Fostering

We currently need experienced people to care for cats and kittens until good homes can be found.  We can supply the equipment, catlit and food although any contributions towards these items are welcome!  We meet all veterinary costs.

Sometimes we will have timid or feral cats, sometimes friendly and lively.  If you are prepared to foster a difficult-to-rehome cat for a longer period of time (eg: timid, feral, elderly) we will consider funding it as a long-term sponsor cat.

Requirements:

• A room in which a cat/kitten can be kept although sometimes the cat needn't be confined to only one room, depending on their nature.
• Fostered cats and kittens need to be kept separate from your own pets in the first instance to reduce stress and in case they or your own cats are carrying a contagious virus.
• Time to clean trays/bowls/floors and provide company for the cats/kittens.  This can fit around jobs as long as you feel confident you can fit it into your spare time and, if fostering kittens, you can return home at lunch time to feed/socialize.
• Transport - you may need to take the fostered cats to/from the vets and to their new homes.
• You needn't worry about whether the cats you foster will be going to good homes - all potential homes are checked by home visitors before homing takes place and the fosterer's opinion is taken into account as they know their feline charges better than anyone else.  The potential owner is given the fosterer's details once the home has been accepted and the cats and kittens are always delivered to their new homes (by the fosterer or another volunteer) ensuring they arrive safely to a prepared room with everything they need.
